German Government Approves Transfer of MiG-29 Fighters from Poland to Ukraine
The German government has granted approval for the delivery of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which are currently in the possession of the Polish army.
The approved transfer involves a total of five aircraft. These fighters originally belonged to the German Democratic Republic, but following Germany’s reunification in 1990, they were transferred to the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), and subsequently some were sent to Poland.
The exact timeline for Poland to initiate the transfer of these planes to Ukraine is currently unknown. It is worth noting that Poland has already delivered eight fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
A Brief Overview The MiG-29 is a fourth-generation Soviet multirole fighter. It served as the primary multirole fighter for both the Warsaw Pact and the USSR during the 1980s. Presently, the MiG-29 is operational in various countries, including Ukraine, with over 15 different modifications available.
