Here’s What We Know Taiwan’s Ministry of Defence has reported multiple sorties by their Air Force. Defense officials of the island nation also mentioned that their air defense forces were closely monitoring the missile capabilities of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The exercise commenced on April 8 and is scheduled to last for three consecutive days. This event coincides with the return of Taiwan’s president, Tsai Ing-wen, from a brief visit to the United States.
According to the Taiwanese military, on the morning of April 9, 11 naval vessels and 70 aircraft from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force were detected in the vicinity of the island. This included Su-30 and J-11 fighters, as well as H-6 nuclear-powered bombers. Approximately half of these aircraft crossed the middle line in the Taiwan Strait.
A reliable source knowledgeable about the security situation in the region stated that the Chinese army conducted simulated air and sea assaults not only on the island of Taiwan but also on foreign military installations.
