Babcock collaborates with Royal Air Force to advance towards a sustainable future in aviation
Babcock has been chosen to partner with the Royal Air Force (RAF) Rapid Capability Office (RCO) as they take a significant stride towards achieving a sustainable aviation future. Project MONET aims to accelerate the application of various sustainable aviation technologies, including potential alternatives such as synthetic-fueled internal combustion engines, hydrogen cells, and hybrid systems. As part of Project MONET, Babcock, in conjunction with UK-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) such as CFS Aero, Zero Petroleum, Delta Cosworth, and Uplift 360, will explore emerging technologies that can mitigate the environmental impact of light aircraft used in training.
Jon Russell, Babcock’s UK Aviation Engineering Director, stated, “Sustainability plays an increasingly crucial role in the aviation industry and is an integral part of our strategy to support our customers. By collaborating with the RCO, we will advance technologies that address environmental challenges while supporting the RAF’s objective of achieving net zero emissions by 2040.”
The aim of Project MONET is to provide the Ministry of Defence with valuable information that can be readily applied to other environmentally conscious projects and developments.
