Saab has finalized a deal with Brazil’s Embraer to modify the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft and recommend it to the Swedish Air Force. The alliance was inked during the previous week’s Latin American Aerospace and Defense exposition in Rio de Janeiro. Per Saab, the cooperation would enable the cargo plane to fulfill the tactical air transport needs of the Swedish Air Force and fortify Embraer’s attempt to persuade the country to purchase the Millennium.
They will allegedly investigate incorporating Saab-provided equipment and systems into the multi-mission aircraft for enhanced performance. The Swedish aviation firm manufactures cutting-edge aircraft components, such as flight control systems and fiber optic detectors. “The C-390 Millennium is the most advanced military tactical transport aircraft of the new generation.
Its multi-mission platform provides unparalleled mobility, merging high productivity and operational versatility with low operating expenses, which is an unrivaled combination,” the company announced in a press statement. Gripen for Latin America Besides suggesting Brazil’s C-390 to Sweden, the partnership will examine new business prospects, including the potential sale of the Gripen multi-purpose fighter aircraft to Brazil and additional Latin American nations.
Saab will permit its new collaborator to utilize the Gripen Design and Development Network and establish a final assembly line at Embraer’s facility in São Paulo. The Brazilian firm will also gain increased involvement in future Gripen agreements. The country has already financed the production of 36 Gripen fighter jets, but the order may be extended to 70 or more in the upcoming years. “Our two companies have collaborated to deliver an exceptional capability for Brazil that will endure for decades,” Saab President Micael Johansson remarked.
“This [memorandum of understanding] is a significant and satisfying step toward expanding that cooperation into new areas between Saab and Embraer that extends beyond Brazil.”
