The 15th Strike Wing is currently in charge of operating and maintaining six Super Tucano jets for the Philippine Air Force. Embraer, a Brazilian company, has recently signed a new agreement with the Philippine Air Force to offer support services for the A-29 Super Tucano fleet.
The recently finalised contract aims to provide various support services for more than 200 part numbers of the Philippine Air Force’s A-29 fleet.
In 2020, the Philippine Air Force received six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft which were selected after a comprehensive evaluation and validation process. These jets are used for light attack, surveillance, close air support, air-to-air interception, advanced training, and counter-insurgency missions.
The fleet is operated and maintained by the 15th Strike Wing and has significantly contributed to the air force’s modernisation plan. Embraer’s A-29 aircraft is currently in service with over 15 air forces globally and has flown for a total of 500,000 hours until last year.
Additionally, in 2019, Embraer was awarded a contract to provide 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force.
