Northrop Grumman has effectively trialed a novel electronic warfare apparatus for the F-16 jet. The corporation stated that the enhancements, termed the AN/ALQ-257 Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite or IVEWS, outperformed the standards set in the mock-up.
The fresh electronic warfare mechanism empowers F-16 fighters to counter threats employing contemporary radio frequencies. The corporation indicated that IVEWS possesses more potent broadband power boosters and responsive counter-strategies, which permit the aircraft to react swifter, encompass extended frequencies, and discern threats from every angle.
IVEWS employs modular, open systems design principles, the corporation furthered. “This triumphant assessment under exceptionally challenging circumstances is a crucial stride towards deploying the suite,” stated Northrop Grumman. EW apparatus for F-16 jet trials demonstrate success.
During the trial, simulated air defense radar signals were directly input into IVEWS to affirm the suite’s capability to identify and counter sophisticated threats. The trials, which have now concluded, were conducted in a validated emulator that enables electronic warfare technology to be trialed in realistic conditions, Northrop stated.
Remember that L3Harris Technologies is also progressing in development for the F-16 Block 70/72 Viper Shield electronic warfare system.
