South Korea continues its testing program for the advanced KF-21 Boramae fighter aircraft. The state-of-the-art Generation 4++ plane has conducted a successful maiden launch of the AIM-2000 IRIS-T missile.
Here’s What We Know In the previous month, the second prototype of the KF-21 made its debut missile launch with the Meteor air-to-air missile, developed by MBDA.
In a subsequent test, the same prototype participated and achieved the milestone of launching the AIM-2000 IRIS-T air-to-air missile for the first time.
The Defense Advanced Development Agency of South Korea (DAPA) confirmed this development. According to DAPA, the IRIS-T missile was launched on April 4, 2023, with a successful outcome.
The primary objective of the test was to assess the impact of the IRIS-T launch on the Republic of Korea’s military infrastructure and to elucidate the missile’s capabilities and intentions.
