A few weeks ago, it was disclosed that Spain has expressed interest in acquiring additional Eurofighter Typhoon fighters.
It appears that the agreement is reaching its final stages. Here’s What We Know Airbus is optimistic that Spain will place an order for a new batch of fourth-generation Eurofighter Typhoon fighters.
Some of the funding will be allocated by reducing the order for Airbus A400M jets by 13 units. The specific cost of the contract has not yet been announced, but according to Infodefensa, it is expected to be based on the previous agreement.
This previous deal involved the purchase of 20 fighter jets for over $1.9 billion and was finalized in the summer of 2022. Airbus, the European aerospace company, has already released the delivery schedule for the 20 new planes that Spain ordered in June of the previous year:
- Three aircraft in 2026
- Five planes in 2027
- Six planes in 2028
- Four planes in 2029
- Two aircraft in 2030
- According to new information, the Spanish Air Force may acquire more than 25 additional Eurofighter Typhoons to replace the existing American EF-18 Hornet fighters. The final cost will depend on the selected aircraft configuration.
